GROWING THE GLOW

Thanks to Fortis Alberta the Airdrie Festival of Lights is going green. Fortis Alberta is in their second year of providing new LED lights – look for their newly changed out display with 3000 (we dare you to count them all) new LED bulbs! Special thanks to the Fortis staff who spent hours twisting the old bulbs off and twisting the new bulbs in!

LED bulbs are 60 times more energy efficient than regular incandescent bulbs. Fortis Alberta hopes to show everyone how easy it is decorate with energy –efficient lights. These lights have the added benefit of being more durable, operate at a cooler temperature and last longer than traditional holiday lighting. Look for energy –efficient products when you are shopping this holiday season.

You can help the festival GO GREEN with loonies for LEDs!

At the park:
One loonie will buy a new LED bulb. You can make your donations in any of our donation locations in the park or watch for our roaming jingle jug elves (they may even sing a song for you!).

Off site:
When you visit Mr. Mike's Restaurant and Calgary Co-op during December you can make a loonie donation and get the privilege of writing your name on a bulb for display in-store. At the end of the month all the "bulbs" will be counted and Mr. Mike's and Calgary Co-op will donate 100% of the proceeds to the festival.
